Effects of the spiral marking of cigarette paper on burning temperature and conventional components of mainstream smoke of cigarettes

Abstract In order to study the effects of parameter variation of cigarette paper spiral marking on cigarette burning temperature and conventional components of mainstream smoke, the burning temperature and conventional components of mainstream smoke of cigarette with different parameters of cigarette paper spiral marking were determined. The results showed that:the form, depth and embossing mode of spiral marking have different effects on cigarette burning temperature and the conventional components of mainstream smoke. The highest burning temperature, average value of highest temperature of smoking, average temperature of smoking, average temperature of smoldering and average peak value of non-spiral marking cigarette paper, shallow spiral marking cigarette paper and positive pressure cigarette paper were higher, and the release of CO of mainstream smoke was lower. There was a significant negative correlation between cigarette smoking temperature and the release of tar and CO in the smoke. The optimum design of parameters of spiral marking of cigarette paper can change the burning temperature of cigarette and reduce the tar and CO of mainstream smoke.
